Legitimised bullying must end

Legitimised bullying must end

Legitimised bullying must end 150 150 The Billion Child Foundation

3 March 2018

Bullying, legitimised by the International Cricket Council, sets a woeful example to the millions of young boys and girls who watch TV and play cricket. It must stop!

Deliberately aiming a hard cricket ball weighing 5½ ounces or 156 grams at speeds up to 150 km per hour at the throat or head of a batsman is a gross intimidation or bullying.

In 2014 the Australian test cricketer Phillip Hughes was killed by a ball bowled at his head to intimidate him.

I call upon the MCC to amend Law 21.10 to read ” The umpire shall call and signal No ball for any delivery which, after pitching, passes or would have passed above shoulder height of the striker standing upright at the popping crease.”

Please join me in emailing the MCC at reception@mcc.org.uk  insisting that the Law 22.10 be amended as above. Please send a copy to the ICC at enquiry@icc-cricket.com

Cricket should be a game of skill not intimidation and bullying.
