We proudly announce that we have submitted an entry to win the prestigious 2023-24 UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development.
We believe we have an excellent chance of being among the top ten finalists because UNESCO-Hamdan are looking for proven programmes which have the potential to sustainably transform the delivery of quality education at schools in every country around the world.
In his Letter of Endorsement, the Secretary General of the South African National Commission for UNESCO reported
“The Billion Child Foundation has been transforming schools in South Africa and Lesotho since 2011.
“The Foundation has the capacity to empower every ministry of education to simultaneously set all their underperforming schools on a journey to become centres of excellence using their existing management and resources.
“Their International Schools Centre of Excellence Programme aims to empower the entire education supply chain (permanent secretary of the ministry of education, heads of provincial/state departments of education, district directors, circuit managers, principals, middle managers, teachers, students, parents and each school community) to become fully engaged in transforming the culture at underperforming schools into cultures experienced at high performance schools.
“Therefore, the South African National Commission for UNESCO is proud to endorse the Billion Child Foundation for the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize as this will benefit millions of schools throughout the world.”
Our entry meets UNESCO-Hamdan requirements of having a proven track record and being cost-effective, sustainable, replicable, scalable and resilient.
Please wish us luck with our application.
