Nelson Mandela is our Inspiration Leader
He said that through education, the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor and the son of a mine-worker the President of his country
He enabled millions of children to attend no-fee schools and made education compulsory.
Sadly, a large percentage of no-fee government schools in countries all around the world perform dismally. Staggering numbers of children drop out of these schools before they are 17 and relatively few young people who complete 12 years of schooling gain a university entrance matriculation pass.
That is where the Billion Child Foundation comes in. We deliver the legacy of Nelson Mandela.
In 2016 100% of learners gained a matriculation pass at 27% of schools where BCF trained principals while 78% of learners obtained a Bachelor or Diploma matriculation pass which enables them to attend university or technical university. These results are as good as those achieved by private schools in developed countries.
BCF is truly delivering the legacy of Nelson Mandela!
We deliver what he suffered for – social mobility of the poor.
All schools can become centres of excellence and BCF delivers mass training programmes which are doing it. If funded, BCF will work with Ministries of Education in Lesotho, Kenya and Ghana in 2018 and by 2025 be delivering its programmes in many developing countries around the world.
Our goal is to enable a billion children to escape poverty by 2044 by enabling them to attend schools which are centres of excellence while being supported by committed informed parents.
