Circuit and Cluster Managers of the Ekurhuleni South Cluster of the Gauteng Department of Education attended a brainstorming workshop on the 12th September to evaluate the potential for BCFs new Cluster Manager Empowerment Programme.
After the brain storming workshop, they reported they believe that this Programme will
- Enable cluster managers to train, coach and empower each principal to reinvent his/her school as a centre of excellence.
- Facilitate a new relationship between cluster managers and principals which will close the current gulf which hinders effective working relationships and communications between district office officials and schools.
- Reduce the perception of micro-management being experienced by principals, HODs and teachers.
- Change the cluster manager’s role changes from ‘policeman/compliance officer’ to that of being a whole school change leader.
They unanimously agreed that this Programme should be introduced in their District early in 2018.
