Last week the last in a series of workshops which began in January to empower the school management teams of 1,518 schools to reinvent their schools to become centres of excellence was completed.
These schools which are attended by over 570,000 learners are situated in the Capricorn North, Vhembe East and Vhembe West education Districts in the Limpopo Province of South Africa which is situated against the Zimbabwe border.
The three District Directors have reported to the provincial Head of the Limpopo Department of Education that they expect significantly improved academic results at the end of the 2022 and 2023 academic years mainly due to implementation at schools of the South African Schools Centre of Excellence Programme.
Circuit Managers and District Directors were awarded certificates commemorating the key roles they have played in implementation of this Programme by the Head of the Limpopo Department of Education Ms K O Dederen and the Chairperson of BCF South Africa, Dr Sylvester Mpandeli. The above photograph shows the Vhembe East District leadership team with Ms Dederen, Dr Mpandeli and board members of BCF SA at the Award Ceremony.
The Programme is driven by the Head of the Limpopo Department of Education and the three District Directors but is implemented from bottom up by each school management team, teachers, learners, parents and the community. A winning combination!!
This Programme offers the world the first sustainable, transferable and scalable programme able to empower Ministries of Education of every country to transform every government school into a centre of excellence within 3-5 years.
The Programme was funded by De Beers and Worley Ltd who are developing one of the world’s biggest diamond mines in the area.
